Navitat at Night: Trick or Trees

When: October 26 – 29, 6:00 – 8:00 PM

What: Experience the tree-based adventure park in a new way with twinkling lights, spooky tunes and glow sticks. Come dressed in costume for a chance to win 2 free return passes! All costumed guests will receive free goody bags.
Cost: 7-11 years old, $37.95 plus tax. 12+, $47.95 plus tax.

Boo at the Zoo at Zoo Knoxville

When: October 10-13, 17-20 and 24-27. 5:30 – 8:30 PM each night
Where: 3500 Knoxville Zoo Drive   Knoxville, TN 37914
What: Knoxville’s largest Halloween event features several nights of not-too-scary fun perfect for preschool and elementary-aged children. Little trick-or-treaters can fill their goody bags as they make their way through the zoo and plenty of entertainment for all ages can be expected.

Costumes and Classic Cartoons at the Tennessee Theatre

When: October 19, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Where: 604 South Gay Street   Knoxville, TN 37902
What: A short reel of cartoons will be shown at intervals through the open house. Each screening will be introduced with organ music played by house organist Freddie Brabson on the Mighty Wurlitzer! Enjoy self-guided tours, old-fashioned candy from Mast General Store and face-painting! Costumes should be family-friendly, not scary. Toy weapons will not be permitted.

Halloween Science Workshop at Smart Toys and Books

What: Smart Toys and Books’ Fall Break Workshops are great for children ages 4 and up! Expect fun activities to get your little ones in the Halloween spirit. Spots are limited, and this is a drop-off event.

All Hallows’ Eve Special at the Three Rivers Rambler

When: October 11 – October 27; please see website for departure times
Where: 2560 University Commons Way   Knoxville, TN 37919
What: Hop aboard the Three Rivers Rambler train for the All Hallows’ Eve Special! Enjoy a 2-hour trip out to the Forks of the River and take part in an exciting audio store experience along the way. All passengers are encouraged to wear their Halloween costume! Boarding begins 20 minutes before departure at the Three Rivers Depot. Appropriate for all ages!
Cost: Adults: $28.50, Seniors $27.50, Kids (ages 3-12): $16.00, Toddlers (ages 1-2): $7.50, Infants: Free of charge.

Pumpkin Carving Party at the Central Collective

When: October 16, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
Where: 923 North Central Street   Knoxville, TN 37917
What: Get in the fall spirit with some good old-fashioned pumpkin carving! They supply the pumpkin and tools, carving templates and inspiration: a Halloween movie and seasonal snacks! The best part? They clean up the pumpkin gunk when you’re done! All the best parts of pumpkin carving with none of the hassle.

Parent and Child Halloween Macarons at the Cutting Edge Classroom

When: October 26, 11:00 – 1:00 PM

What: Discover the art and science behind macaron making with Chef Jocelyn Weatherford! Learn to mix, pipe and bake the cookie shells and whip up their most popular filling flavors, then take home your own assorted box of Halloween macarons.

Trick or Treat in the Cave at Cherokee Caverns

When: October 18 – 27, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Fridays and 3:00 – 8:00 PM Saturdays and Sundays
Where: 8524 Oak Ridge Highway  Knoxville, TN 37931
What: Trick or Treat among the stalactites and stalagmites! Come in costume and be ready for fun surprises around each corner. Enjoy a self-guided tour in addition to trick-or-treating, shopping, and coffee or cocoa around the bonfire! The cave is wheelchair-accessible and stroller-friendly, and there will be plenty of great photo ops to enjoy.
Cost: $10, but bring a non-perishable non-expired canned food item to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank for $1 off ticket price.

Pet-Friendly Knoxville Halloween Events

Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade and Pet Expo at the UT Gardens

When: October 20, 1:00 – 5:00 PM
Where: 2518 Jacob Drive   Knoxville, TN 37996
What: This rain-or-shine event is sponsored by the UT Gardens and College of Veterinary Medicine. Come ready for a judged costume parade with prizes, educational booths, pet businesses, rescue groups, food trucks and more. A pet food drive will benefit UT’s Companion Animal Initiative in Tennessee, so please consider donating money or items. (They can use: small bags of Purina, cans of food, toys, beds, treats, harnesses/collars in any feline/canine size, puppy pads, sheets, and large towels.)
Cost: Free to watch, fee to enter the parade and pet costume contest.

Knoxville Halloween Events - Howl-O-Ween

Pawsitively Spooky 5k at Victor Ashe Park

When: October 11, 6:00 PM
Where: 4901 Bradshaw Road   Knoxville, TN 37912
What: This 5k course or short one-mile run can be done solo, in a group or with your pup! Raise money to benefit the ARC Knox County while enjoying costume contests, a Thriller Experience and dog-friendly events.
Cost: $30 for adults, $20 for ages 18 and under. This run is stroller-friendly, and children in strollers do not need to register.

Victorian Seance Experience at the Mabry-Hazen House – ages 16+

When: October 25 – 27, 6:00 – 10:00 PM; sessions every 20 minutes
Where: 1711 Dandridge Avenue   Knoxville, TN 37915
What: Relying on primary sources from the nineteenth century, the Mabry-Hazen House will reenact a Victorian seance. Inside the parlors of the 1858 historic house, “investigators” ages 16 and up will enjoy an immersive experience filled with mysterious and startling wonders! True manifestation of spirits, or clever parlor trick? You decide as you learn about this eerie, fascinating novelty of nineteenth-century American life.
Cost: $20 per person; guests may purchase an additional $5 voucher to have their fortune told after the session.
